Osun Police Initiate Inquiry Into Viral Ibuaje Video

The Osun State Police Command is investigating a TikTok video involving false claims about a property in the Ibuaje community, after the individual who posted the footage issued a public apology.

The Osun State Police Command has launched a formal investigation into a video that recently surfaced on social media regarding a residence in the Ibuaje area of Osogbo. DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, acting for Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Gotan, confirmed that the inquiry follows concerns triggered by footage posted on TikTok by Ajibola Yetunde Aramide.

In her posts, Aramide claimed to have been prompted by a spiritual revelation to check on a property owner she had not seen recently. She recorded the premises on Oluwatosin Alabi Street and further alleged that multiple property owners in the Abere-sise region had gone missing. These claims prompted her to call for intervention from high-ranking police officials.

Authorities quickly identified the property and found that the owner’s wife and a tenant were currently living there. During the inquiry, community leaders and a representative of the local traditional ruler met with the police, confirming that there was no factual basis for Aramide’s allegations. It was also clarified that Aramide lives in a different area from the building she filmed.

Aramide has since deleted the videos and issued a public apology, acknowledging the potential legal consequences regarding privacy and the Cybercrimes Act. Commissioner Gotan has assured the public that the investigation continues and urged citizens to cooperate with the authorities while maintaining peace.
