Mrs. Titilola Adeleke, the First Lady of Osun State, headed a demonstration on Monday at the police headquarters in Osogbo. Alongside other government officials, including Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs Ayobola Awolowo and Special Adviser Eniola Omotoso, she advocated for a fair election process. The group marched to the state police command to deliver a formal petition against the reported intimidation of voters.
During the meeting with Commissioner of Police Samuel Etaifo, Mrs. Adeleke raised concerns regarding the alleged targeting and mistreatment of Accord Party members. She specifically mentioned the arrest of the Commissioner for Environment, claiming he was humiliated while in detention. She urged authorities to cease these actions against their party members.
In response, CP Etaifo confirmed he is operating under the direction of the Inspector-General of Police to maintain order and security for the upcoming August 15 poll. He encouraged all political groups to avoid creating unnecessary friction. While cautioning against the public demonstration, Etaifo promised that the police force would review the submitted petition and adjust their security strategies to ensure a safe environment for all voters.
