Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has officially supported the Rotary Club of Abuja Metro’s initiative to build a volunteer fire station. The facility is set to provide critical safety services to residents in Life Camp, Kafe District, Gwarinpa, and the surrounding areas. Osinbajo, represented by former Deputy Chief of Staff Adeola Ipaye, praised the project as a clear example of community-focused service.
This announcement took place during the investiture of Engr. Michael O. Oluwagbemi as the 17th President of the club. The ceremony also featured the unveiling of Oluwagbemi’s book, Blueprints for Progress, and the recognition of ten notable Nigerians for their contributions to society. During the event, Ipaye highlighted the importance of collective action, noting that citizens often play a vital role in community prosperity alongside government policies.
In his address, President Oluwagbemi emphasized that the club aims to fill societal gaps through service. He encouraged attendees to contribute their time, talents, and resources to support various humanitarian goals. Beyond the fire station, the club plans to pursue initiatives in education, healthcare, and economic empowerment. With the induction of 25 new members, the club has successfully restored its status as a mega-club, a milestone it was the first to achieve in Africa.
