Soldiers from Operation HADIN KAI successfully dismantled a suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP base during a tactical operation in the Gubio region of Borno State. The mission, confirmed by security analyst Zagazola Makama, followed reliable intelligence reports regarding insurgent activity near the Layi area.
Led by the 145 Battalion (Mechanised), the military unit advanced on the location this past Saturday. Upon noticing the approaching forces, the militants abandoned their position and escaped. After securing the site, the soldiers demolished the hideout and retrieved a pump-action rifle alongside three AK-47 magazines left behind during the retreat.
Following the sweep, the battalion patrolled the nearby village of Mallamti Ganyawa, where they reported no further contact with combatants. The mission concluded with no injuries to personnel, and the troops arrived back at their station by the afternoon. Local security remains stable yet volatile, and authorities confirm that intensified efforts to root out extremist cells throughout the North East continue.
