Ondo State Authorities Suspend 27 Students for Disciplinary Violations

The Ondo State government has suspended 27 students from three public secondary schools in Akure following reports of gross misconduct and behavioral violations.

The government of Ondo State has officially suspended 27 pupils from three public secondary schools located in Akure due to reports of serious misconduct. According to Bisi Lawani, the media lead for the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, the disciplinary action affects students from Oyemekun Grammar School, Aquinas College, and CAC Grammar School.

These suspensions were issued because the students’ behavior violated the state’s official code of conduct for public institutions. Dr. Akindele Ige, the Permanent Secretary, noted that despite frequent dialogues with school administrators to address indiscipline, certain students have persisted in unacceptable activities. The ministry identified issues such as fighting, bullying, absenteeism, and the sharing of inappropriate videos online as primary concerns that damage the reputation of the local education system.

The suspended students are barred from school grounds and all related activities until their cases are processed by school committees and the ministry. Emphasizing a zero-tolerance stance on behavior that compromises academic integrity, the government has called upon parents and guardians to take a more active role in monitoring their children. The ministry plans to continue strict supervision through regular school inspections and has warned that any further instances of such conduct will result in immediate disciplinary consequences.
