Kogi Police Refute Allegations of Abduction on Kabba-Okene Road

The Kogi State Police Command has officially debunked online rumors regarding a kidnapping incident on the Kabba-Okene Road, clarifying that an empty cargo bus was abandoned by its driver following an electrical fault.

The Kogi State Police Command has formally refuted social media reports suggesting that individuals were abducted along the Kabba-Okene Road on June 17, 2026. Spokesperson Oyiza Salisu labeled the viral claims as both false and deceptive.

According to the official account, a commercial driver named Ojo was transporting coco yams toward Ibilo around 9 p.m. when he spotted suspicious lights ahead. He attempted to turn his vehicle around; however, upon seeing figures approaching, he deserted the bus and sought refuge at a nearby military outpost.

Salisu emphasized that the bus was empty at the time, meaning no passengers were put at risk or taken. Investigators determined the situation was not criminal but rather linked to an electrical failure in the vehicle. The cargo was eventually moved to another truck and delivered successfully. Because no crime or injury occurred, the incident was managed by military personnel and not treated as a police matter.
