Olatunbosun Oyintiloye Hails Legislative Nod for State Police as Security Milestone

APC chieftain Olatunbosun Oyintiloye praises the National Assembly’s move to approve state police, calling it a vital step toward a more effective and decentralized security system in Nigeria.

Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a prominent figure in the Osun State All Progressives Congress, has lauded the National Assembly for authorizing state police. During a media interaction in Osogbo, he characterized this legislative development as a significant achievement in modernizing the nation’s law enforcement framework.

The former lawmaker noted that this policy, which he has campaigned for over many years, finally achieved success under the current administration of President Bola Tinubu. Oyintiloye emphasized that the centralized nature of the existing police force has struggled to contain rising security threats. He believes that shifting toward decentralized, community-focused policing is essential for addressing specific local risks.

According to the APC chieftain, the Senate’s approval aligns with the long-standing recommendations of security analysts and citizens. He predicted that this transition will bolster intelligence gathering, shorten response times, and stimulate job creation. To ensure success, he advocated for a system rooted in technology, utilizing drones, CCTV, and digital databases to aid operations.

Oyintiloye also urged that the rollout prioritize accountability, legal standards, and human rights. He extended his appreciation to President Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and other stakeholders for their dedication to this reform, expressing confidence that it will foster peace and economic stability across Nigeria.
