The Ogun State Police Command has detained 43 suspects following a midnight raid conducted by Operation Kosaye at a criminal hideout in Isheri-Olofin. On July 7, 2026, members of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit carried out an intelligence-driven operation near the Kara Cattle Market on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, capturing 28 men and 15 women.
Authorities seized various items during the raid, including illegal drugs like Indian hemp and Loud, multiple mobile phones, power banks, and personal identification documents. DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Police Public Relations Officer, explained that the operation was launched after reports identified the site as a hub for cultists and illegal activities. Under the direction of CSP Murphy, the SWAT team executed the arrests, and all 43 individuals have since been arraigned and remanded in a correctional facility.
The suspects face multiple charges, including criminal conspiracy, membership in unlawful societies, and operating unlicensed brothels. Commissioner of Police CP Bode Ojajuni praised the SWAT unit’s efficiency, noting that this brings the total number of individuals prosecuted under Operation Kosaye to 76. The Commissioner emphasized that the police will continue to aggressively dismantle criminal havens across the state while urging the public to report suspicious behavior to aid in maintaining local order.
