The Ogun State Police Command has successfully confiscated an English submachine gun along with 75 rounds of live ammunition. The weapons were found stashed within a broken wardrobe in a Sagamu apartment that was being cleared following the passing of the former landlord. Police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed that officers from the Sakura Division moved quickly to secure the scene. The items are now undergoing ballistic testing at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Abeokuta to determine their history.
In a separate operation, police officers from the Idi Oke Division interrupted a gathering of suspected cultists in the Igbesa area. Acting on intelligence that these individuals were harassing patrons at a local hotel, the police surrounded the area and arrested 12 suspects. Several others managed to escape, though authorities have vowed to track them down. Investigators recovered various items during the raid, including battle axes, knives, charms, and multiple vehicles, such as a Lexus and a Toyota Camry.
Furthermore, authorities in Sagamu discovered an abandoned Bajaj motorcycle near a workshop at the Trailer Park in Kara. Police are currently working to determine who owns the bike and why it was left behind. Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni praised these proactive efforts and encouraged the public to continue reporting suspicious activity to help maintain law and order across the state.
