Ogun Government Denies Claims of Officials Prostrating Before Governor Abiodun

The Ogun State Government has labeled as false and malicious the viral claims that its officials are coerced into prostrating before Governor Dapo Abiodun.

The Ogun State Government has officially refuted viral allegations suggesting that cabinet members are forced to prostrate to Governor Dapo Abiodun whenever he is unhappy with their performance. Kayode Akinmade, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Strategy, described the report as a calculated effort to spread misinformation and undermine the administration.

Addressing the rumors, the government clarified that no commissioner, cabinet member, or even the Deputy Governor, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, has ever been asked to engage in such acts. The administration labeled the claims as irresponsible and accused the media outlet in question of prioritizing sensationalism over journalistic integrity.

The government explained that the report likely distorted a past event involving local government chairmen. During that prior situation, the chairmen voluntarily chose to prostrate as a traditional gesture while seeking forgiveness on behalf of a colleague. The statement emphasized that Governor Abiodun never requested, ordered, or encouraged this behavior.

Furthermore, the government addressed past disputes regarding local government allocations. Investigations by the State House of Assembly and the Joint Account and Allocation Committee previously confirmed that funds were distributed through the proper statutory processes. The administration warned that while free speech is protected, it does not permit the publication of fabrications. Consequently, officials have called on security agencies to look into the matter, urging the public to ignore the misleading report and rely on verified information.
