NSCDC Abuja command trains 106 personnel on weapon safety

The NSCDC FCT Command has completed a two-week pistol management course for 106 officers, emphasizing firearm safety and professional conduct.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) FCT Command recently finished a two-week specialized pistol handling course for 106 officers. This initiative highlights the agency’s focus on professional growth, discipline, and efficient service. Held at the FCT Command headquarters in Abuja, the program aimed to improve firearm proficiency and ensure the secure protection of public assets and civilian life.

DSC Monica Ojobi, the command spokesperson, released a statement on Monday detailing the event. FCT Commandant Dr. Olusola Odumosu stated that the organization maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding firearm negligence. He warned that any accidental discharge would be viewed as serious misconduct requiring accountability.

Dr. Odumosu reminded the officers to prioritize respectful conduct when engaging with the public. He stressed that their primary mission is to protect citizens and infrastructure rather than engage in intimidation. The training curriculum covered marksmanship, tactical safety, and the ethical use of force, following established standard operating procedures. The Commandant thanked the leadership for supporting this capacity-building effort and urged all participants to remain disciplined and dedicated to national interests.
