With the 2027 general elections on the horizon, the North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has advised first-term governors within the region to enhance their performance to secure re-election. The group emphasized that success at the polls depends heavily on the tangible results these leaders produce.
Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, Chairman of the Forum, issued this directive following a stakeholders meeting in Abuja. The appeal primarily concerns Ahmed Ododo of Kogi, Hyacinth Alia of Benue, Mohammad Bago of Niger, and Caleb Muftwang of Plateau. Conversely, governors AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara and Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa are currently serving their final terms.
The Forum is committed to maintaining APC dominance across the North-Central zone. They urged the governors to focus on security, economic growth, agriculture, education, and social empowerment to improve the welfare of their constituents. The group believes that consistent delivery of democratic dividends is the most effective path to electoral victory.
The Forum specifically praised Governor Bago of Niger and Governor Muftwang of Plateau for their notable progress. They highlighted Bago’s infrastructure initiatives, such as extensive road networks and solar farm projects, and recognized Muftwang for agricultural and tourism investments. While acknowledging these successes, the group reminded all first-term governors to intensify their efforts.
Ultimately, the organization remains optimistic that these performance gains will support their pledge to deliver six million votes from the North-Central region for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
