The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted sunny and hazy weather conditions across the country from Friday to Sunday.

In its weather outlook released on Thursday in Abuja, NiMet forecasted sunny skies with hazy conditions in the northern region on Friday, with a chance of thunderstorms in parts of Taraba in the afternoon or evening.

The North Central region is expected to experience sunny skies with scattered clouds, while isolated thunderstorms are likely in parts of Kogi and Benue.

The southern region will have cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine, with morning thunderstorms in Cross River, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom, and later storms in Imo, Abia, Enugu, Anambra, Edo, Ondo, Oyo, Ogun, Rivers, Cross River, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Delta, and Lagos.

On Saturday, moderate dust haze is expected in parts of Borno, Yobe, Jigawa, Adamawa, and Bauchi, while the rest of the northern region will remain sunny and hazy. The North Central region will continue to experience sunny skies with scattered clouds.

The southern region will see cloudy skies with some afternoon and evening thunderstorms in parts of Ogun, Rivers, Cross River, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Delta, and Lagos.

By Sunday, moderate dust haze is predicted over the northern region, with high temperatures across most parts of the country increasing the risk of heat stress.

NiMet advised the public to stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight exposure, and remain in cool, ventilated spaces. It also urged individuals with respiratory issues, particularly in northern areas, to take necessary precautions.

Airline operators were advised to obtain airport-specific weather reports for better flight planning.
