The Super Eagles have not played since their 2-1 defeat to Portugal in a June international friendly. Meanwhile, Egypt climbed to third in Africa after a strong performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where they exited in the Round of 16 following a 3-2 loss to Argentina.
Morocco solidified its status as Africa’s top-ranked team, rising from seventh to sixth globally after reaching the World Cup quarter-finals. Senegal’s Teranga Lions kept their second-place standing in Africa despite a three-place drop overall, while Algeria sits fifth on the continent.
On the international stage, Spain has reclaimed the top spot, pushing Argentina into second. France, England, and Brazil follow to round out the top five. FIFA is scheduled to publish the next set of rankings on October 7, 2026.
