The Nigerian Super Falcons secured their place in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after a decisive 6-2 win against Egypt. Under the guidance of Justine Madugu, the team claimed the second position in Group C, trailing behind Malawi.
Although Egypt started with poise, Nigeria broke the deadlock in the 21st minute when Asisat Oshoala successfully converted a penalty kick following a handball. Before halftime, Monday Gift extended the lead to 2-0 off a pass from Rinsola Babajide, though Egypt managed a response through a Nadine Ghazi penalty.
Following the interval, the Super Falcons asserted their dominance. Uchenna Kanu scored the third goal, followed by Christy Ucheibe, who netted a penalty in the 81st minute. Despite a long-range goal from Ghazi to narrow the gap, Nigeria pulled away again. Rasheedat Ajibade converted a penalty after Michelle Alozie was fouled, and Joy Omewa added a final goal during stoppage time. The Super Falcons now prepare to face Cameroon this Sunday for a semi-final berth.
