The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) officially launched its campaign in the Aninri Local Government Area for the upcoming September 26 Enugu state elections, drawing a significant crowd. Led by State Chairman Dr. Johnpaul Anih, the event introduced chairmanship candidate Hon. Edward Onu Nwonye and ten contenders for councillorship positions.
Dr. Anih stated that the rally proves the party’s rising popularity and predicted a win. He encouraged members to focus on grassroots support and peace, while issuing a firm warning against bullying voters or engaging in election fraud. He stressed that voters are prepared to safeguard their ballots and expect their choices to be upheld.
The chairman also pressed the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) and security officials to facilitate a transparent process that treats all parties equally. He noted that the NDC candidates are prepared to lead with integrity and transparency. Hon. Edward Onu Nwonye promised that, if he wins, he will prioritize healthcare, infrastructure, education, and rural development. Local party leader Hon. Stephen Ajah also voiced his expectation of an NDC victory.
