Manchester United has officially welcomed defender Idris Fabiyi into their new class of academy scholars. Fabiyi, who is eligible to play for Nigeria, is among 15 young talents recently awarded first-year scholarship deals by the Premier League side.
In English football, these scholarship agreements are a mandatory step for players under 17 before they can transition to professional contracts. Fabiyi joins a notable cohort that includes Kai Rooney and Jacey Carrick.
Having climbed through the club’s youth ranks, Fabiyi has already seen success on the pitch, contributing to an Under-15 Premier League Floodlit Cup title and participating in the SuperCup NI tournament. The group is now set to attend a developmental training camp in Germany.
Born in England, Fabiyi remains eligible to represent Nigeria internationally, though he has not yet committed to a national team. He maintains connections to his Nigerian heritage, evidenced by his social media following of the Super Eagles and Victor Osimhen. He will continue his growth at an academy renowned for developing talents like Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo.
