Following his Euro 2024 victory with Spain, head coach Luis de la Fuente identified the one international player he wishes he could recruit for his team. While speaking to the press before Spain’s second World Cup group match against Saudi Arabia, the manager was asked which player from a different country would be his dream signing.
Instead of selecting high-profile stars such as Vinicius Jr. or Kylian Mbappe, De la Fuente pointed to Argentina’s Julian Alvarez. He explained that the Atletico Madrid forward aligns perfectly with his tactical philosophy and would provide significant value to his squad. According to the coach, while Mbappe and Vinicius are undoubtedly elite athletes, Alvarez is the better stylistic fit for his specific approach to the game.
