Liverpool Football Club has imposed over 400 lifetime bans following a joint operation with Merseyside Police that resulted in the seizure of more than £1.2m in assets linked to illegal ticket touting. The investigation targeted the laundering of criminal proceeds derived from these illicit sales while the club intensified its efforts to purge touts from both digital platforms and stadium grounds.
Alongside the 432 lifetime bans, the club has handed down 115 indefinite suspensions to those involved in the scheme. Detective Chief Inspector Nick Suffield praised the collaboration, noting that authorities are committed to protecting authentic supporters from exploitation. The recovered funds were divided between the Home Office and Merseyside Police.
This initiative builds on previous efforts to combat fraud, which included closing 145,000 ticket accounts over a two-year period. During the last season, Liverpool scrutinized nearly 700,000 registrations, leading to the cancellation of over 67,000 fake accounts. Furthermore, the club continues to monitor thousands of suspicious accounts. In the 2025-26 season, nearly 4,000 tickets were voided and returned to the general sale pool, expanding access for legitimate fans. The club also increased on-site enforcement, averaging 300 stops per home match at Anfield to prevent unauthorized access.
