Carlos Cordeiro has resigned from his post as senior adviser to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, citing strong disagreement over plans to sell equity in the World Cup. FIFA has publicly denied the claims, stating that the organization is not selling football. However, Cordeiro, a veteran banker, released a scathing critique of the plan. He argued that FIFA already maintains significant financial stability with billions in reserves and substantial projected revenue, rendering the divestment of the sport’s most valuable asset unnecessary and potentially damaging.
