Lawyer Demands Explanation from President Tinubu Regarding Silas Agara’s NDE Reinstatement

Legal practitioner Danladi Azizi is calling on President Tinubu to clarify how and why Silas Agara resumed his role as NDE Director General after resigning for political aspirations.

Barrister Danladi Azizi, a legal expert and human rights activist, has formally requested that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu clarify the circumstances surrounding the return of Silas Agara as the Director General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE). Agara had previously resigned from the position to run for a senatorial seat in Nasarawa State for the 2027 elections.

In a statement released on Thursday, Azizi argued that the reinstatement poses significant administrative, constitutional, and ethical questions. He pointed out that no official statement from the presidency has confirmed a reappointment.

Azizi noted that while Agara followed the president’s mandate for appointees to resign before seeking elective office, he resumed his duties after failing to secure a win in the APC primaries. The lawyer emphasized that federal appointments are statutory and subject to legal protocols. Once a resignation is submitted and accepted, the tenure of that officeholder officially ceases.

The legal practitioner challenged the presidency to confirm if a formal reappointment process occurred. He insisted that the public deserves transparency, asking whether a legal document exists for the return or if Agara is occupying the role without proper authorization.
