The team introduced a heavily modified car for this event, featuring a redesigned rear suspension system among various other mechanical changes. The component failed at Turn Three, forcing the session to pause briefly.
Meanwhile, Charles Leclerc led the practice session for Ferrari before his own car stopped in the pit lane due to an unspecified issue. Leclerc maintained a lead of 0.484 seconds over Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, with Lewis Hamilton finishing in third position. Fernando Alonso, Stroll’s teammate, returned to the track after the restart to record the 13th fastest time. While this remains behind the front runners, it marks a notable improvement for Aston Martin compared to their recent performance struggles.
The remainder of the top ten included Isack Hadjar in the second Red Bull, George Russell for Mercedes, and Audi’s Gabriel Bortoleto. Reserve driver Frederik Vesti, substituting for Kimi Antonelli, finished seventh. Nico Hulkenberg, Arvid Lindblad, and Liam Lawson rounded out the top ten rankings.
