Lewis Hamilton achieved a remarkable pole position for the British Grand Prix sprint race, narrowly defeating Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli at Silverstone. Hamilton, a nine-time winner at his home circuit, outperformed the championship leader by a mere 0.011 seconds. Max Verstappen finished third for Red Bull, trailing the lead pace by 0.321 seconds.
Ferrari’s seven-time champion expressed surprise at the result, noting that minor car upgrades contributed to his success after a difficult outing in Austria. Hamilton, who received a massive ovation from the 150,000 spectators, stated his joy at being back at the front of the grid.
Charles Leclerc took fourth place, leaving Mercedes’ George Russell in fifth. McLaren’s Lando Norris, the reigning world champion, managed sixth place ahead of his team-mate Oscar Piastri. The top ten was rounded out by Red Bull’s Isack Hadjar, followed by Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad for Racing Bulls.
