A Los Angeles Lakers supporter has filed a lawsuit against LeBron James, alleging that the NBA star’s “The Second Decision” teaser misled him into spending hundreds of dollars on game tickets.
Andrew Garcia, 29, lodged the complaint in Los Angeles County, claiming he believed James was hinting at retirement when he posted a video teasing a major announcement on Monday. The teaser, which referenced James’s 2010 “The Decision,” led many fans to assume the 40-year-old was preparing to end his career ahead of his 23rd NBA season.
However, on Tuesday, it was revealed that the announcement was actually an advertisement for James’s new partnership with Hennessy.
Garcia told TMZ he immediately purchased two tickets worth $432.83 each—totaling $865.66—for the March 31, 2026, game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, believing it could be James’s final matchup against his former team.
The lawsuit accuses James of “fraud, deception, misrepresentation, and any and all basis of legal recovery.” Garcia said, “I wouldn’t have purchased it if he wasn’t going to retire. Plain and simple.”
James, who will be 41 at the end of the 2026 season, is set to become an unrestricted free agent, fueling speculation about his future in the league.
