Lagos State University (LASU) in Ojo is set to honor 20,604 graduates across the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic sessions, with 494 students earning First Class degrees. Vice Chancellor Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello shared these figures while outlining events for the institution’s 29th and 30th convocation ceremonies.
The university will confer honorary doctorate degrees on Akin Kekere-Ekun, Harriet-Ann Omobola Adesola, and Aliko Dangote. During the 2024/2025 session, Ayilara Lawal Olawale emerged as the top student with a 4.96 CGPA, while Adebanjo Samuel Oluolamide led the 2025/2026 class with a 4.97 CGPA.
The ceremonies will feature a lecture by Abike Dabiri-Erewa, CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, focusing on the diaspora’s role in national development. Furthermore, Professors Rafiu Olaoluwa Okuneye and Olatunji-Bello have been named Distinguished Professors. The Vice Chancellor highlighted that LASU remains the most requested university in Nigeria, receiving over 84,000 first-choice applications in 2026, and continues to be ranked as the premier state university in the country.
