Rabiu Kwankwaso, the vice presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has clarified his shift in perspective regarding the party’s presidential hopeful, Peter Obi, in anticipation of the 2027 general elections. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today program this Monday, Kwankwaso stated that his direct engagement with the former governor of Anambra State during alliance negotiations solidified his belief in Obi’s leadership capabilities.
The NDC official noted that while he felt acquainted with Obi and other political figures prior to the 2023 polls, later interactions provided a more comprehensive view of his colleague. Findings from a joint committee formed by both camps further bolstered this transition, revealing that their respective blueprints for the nation are remarkably similar. Kwankwaso characterized Obi as a dedicated politician who prioritizes the welfare of the country, noting that their aligned objectives made their collaboration a natural development.
