Chief Sir Joseph Ezeokafor, the head of Jezco Group, has been held by kidnappers who have now hiked their ransom demand to N1.5 billion. According to reports from Arise TV, the 70-year-old businessman was seized in the early hours of Tuesday while traveling to a prayer retreat.
An anonymous insider close to the family revealed that the captors originally asked for N700 million. Although the family was ready to begin discussions to bring him home, the kidnappers later adjusted the price to N1.5 billion. Since that increase, all communication lines between the family and the abductors have gone quiet, leaving his loved ones in a state of distress.
Ezeokafor allegedly departed his residence around 2 a.m. without his usual security escort, which made him an easy target. The incident has caused significant alarm among his peers and the local community. A week has passed since the abduction, yet neither the Anambra State Police Command nor the state government has issued an official statement regarding the situation.
