Woman Turns Herself In After Alleged Fatal Flogging of Pupil in Anambra

A 47-year-old woman accused of killing a 12-year-old boy through physical abuse in Adazi-Ani has surrendered to police custody in Anambra State.

Dim Ebere, a 47-year-old woman, has surrendered to authorities in Anambra State after being accused of beating a 12-year-old student to death in the town of Adazi-Ani. The suspect turned herself in at the Neni Police Station after police launched an intensive search for her.

Anambra State Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed that Ebere is currently in custody and will be moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for continued inquiry. Ikenga praised the local traditional leaders and community members for their help in pressuring the suspect to turn herself in.

The tragedy came to light last week when police arrived at the scene and transported the child to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The victim’s body is being held at a morgue awaiting an autopsy. Officials have asked for public patience, promising a complete investigation and legal accountability while requesting that citizens refrain from vigilante actions.
