Kenneth Okonkwo Denies Receiving Legal Documents in Peter Obi Defamation Case

ADC chieftain Kenneth Okonkwo denies receiving formal court documents in the defamation suit filed by Peter Obi, dismissing the legal action as an effort to silence him.

Kenneth Okonkwo, a prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), stated on Thursday that he has yet to be formally served with court papers regarding a defamation lawsuit initiated by Peter Obi. Okonkwo addressed the matter during an appearance on the Channels Television program ‘Politics Today’. He noted that his awareness of the situation stems entirely from social media reports rather than official communication. According to Okonkwo, he plans to inform the public if he receives any formal notification. Addressing claims that a court allowed Obi’s legal representatives to utilize substituted service due to difficulties in reaching him, Okonkwo challenged the validity of such an application. He argued that a claim for substituted service requires proof that personal delivery attempts were unsuccessful, which he asserts has not occurred. While acknowledging he previously replied to a pre-action notice, he maintained that he has not been issued any actual court processes. The ADC candidate for the 2027 election dismissed the legal challenge as a tactic meant to suppress his voice, affirming that he will not withdraw his prior comments regarding Obi.
