Kebbi State House of Assembly pauses operations for month-long break

The Kebbi State House of Assembly has suspended all legislative sessions for a one-month recess, with plans to resume official plenary on August 11, 2026.

The Kebbi State House of Assembly has officially halted its legislative duties for a break lasting one month. Sessions are slated to start again on August 11, 2026.

Speaker Rt. Hon. Salihu Maikasuwa Dangoje made the announcement this past Wednesday while at the Assembly Complex in Birnin Kebbi. The pause was initiated following a motion presented by the Majority Leader, Hon. Faruku Aliyu Nassarawa Jega, which requested that meetings be suspended until the August date.

Hon. Faruku Abubakar Maisudan provided the second for the motion, which subsequently gained full approval from all members present. Upon finalizing the resolution, the Speaker adjourned the session.

Dangoje advised the lawmakers to utilize this period to connect with the people they represent and learn about local difficulties. He emphasized the importance of gathering input from the public, which will aid in future lawmaking efforts once the House reconvenes. This recess aligns with the established legislative calendar, allowing members time for constituency interaction before the next session begins.
