Karolina Muchova withdraws from Canadian Open following minor surgery

Wimbledon finalist Karolina Muchova will miss the Canadian Open after undergoing a minor medical procedure, though she hopes to return for the US Open.

World number six Karolina Muchova will be absent from tennis competition for several weeks following a minor surgical procedure. The 29-year-old athlete, who recently reached the Wimbledon final, announced that she must skip the Canadian Open in Toronto, which commences on August 1.

Muchova did not disclose the nature of the medical issue, though she has a history of wrist-related complications. She expressed disappointment about missing the tournament but confirmed that the surgery was successful and she has already begun her rehabilitation process. Her focus remains on returning to fitness in time for the US Open, scheduled to begin on August 23. Muchova is currently seeking her first major title after suffering losses in both the 2023 French Open final against Iga Swiatek and her recent Wimbledon appearance against Linda Noskova.
