Alexander Zverev secured his inaugural Wimbledon semi-final appearance by defeating an injured Taylor Fritz. The German second seed delivered an authoritative performance, ending a seven-match losing streak against his American opponent. Before this victory, Zverev had never progressed beyond the fourth round at this tournament.
Fritz struggled throughout the match due to a knee injury, allowing Zverev to dominate the contest on Court One. Zverev closed out the match in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, 6-2, in just under two hours. This win marks his first victory against Fritz in more than two years and moves him closer to securing a second consecutive major trophy following his French Open success.
Zverev is scheduled to face British wildcard Arthur Fery in the next round. Fery earned his place in the semi-finals after a surprise victory over Flavio Cobolli.
