Kano Hisbah prohibits commercial mobile film sharing at charging stations

Kano State’s Hisbah Board has officially banned the commercial sharing of films at phone charging centers to protect minors from accessing inappropriate content.

The Kano State Hisbah Board has implemented an immediate ban on the commercial distribution of films via mobile devices at phone charging stations across all 44 local government areas. Dr. Mujahideen Aminudden, the board’s Deputy Commander-General, made the announcement on Thursday.

This measure was initiated following numerous reports from parents who claimed that charging station operators were providing children with explicit and uncensored media. Officials noted that this activity poses a significant risk to the moral development of minors. Furthermore, many of these shared files lack proper copyright authorization and ignore established age-based content classifications.

Aminudden stated that some operators falsely claim to distribute religious materials while actually circulating content detrimental to youth. To ensure the mandate is followed, the board has dispatched enforcement teams throughout the state. Individuals caught violating this new directive will face legal consequences and prosecution.
