The Catholic Diocese of Kano has officially distanced itself from Peter Umeanuka, a former seminarian accused of falsely presenting himself as an ordained deacon. Umeanuka currently runs the Divine Solution Ministry located at No. 80 Onitsha Road, Sabon Gari.
In a formal statement issued on August 7, 2026, by the Diocesan Chancellor, Very Rev. Fr. Abraham Ameh, the Church clarified that Umeanuka was previously a major seminarian at the Mother of Good Counsel Parish. However, his formation was terminated due to unresolved psychological health concerns. The Diocese confirmed he never received ordination.
The Church noted that Umeanuka frequently wears clerical vestments and performs blessings with a monstrance to mimic official Catholic rites. The Diocese explicitly stated it has no affiliation with his ministry and refuses to accept responsibility for any spiritual, emotional, or financial damages incurred by those who interact with him. Consequently, the Church has cautioned members of the public that any engagement with Umeanuka or his organization is strictly at their own risk.
