Joe Biden details White House tenure in new book, updates public on health

Joe Biden plans to release his presidential memoir, “Promise Me, America,” in late 2026 while sharing a positive update on his current cancer treatment.

Former US President Joe Biden shared on Wednesday that he is writing a memoir covering his years in the White House. During a video update posted to his X account, the 83-year-old also noted that his ongoing treatment for prostate cancer is progressing successfully.

Biden revealed his diagnosis in May 2025, explaining that the aggressive cancer had spread to his bones. In his recent message, he expressed gratitude for the support he has received while focusing on family and his recovery.

Titled “Promise Me, America,” the memoir is scheduled for release on November 17, 2026. The book will examine significant events from his 2021-2025 term, such as the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot, the conflict in Ukraine, and the US withdrawal from Afghanistan. Furthermore, he intends to detail his internal reasoning regarding his 2024 reelection bid and his subsequent decision to end his campaign following a difficult debate against Donald Trump.

Trump, who defeated Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election, is set to become the oldest president to hold office, surpassing the record previously held by Biden. The upcoming book launch will occur shortly after the 2026 midterm elections, adding to recent political literature, including Harris’s own memoir, “107 Days,” which was released last year.
