Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has officially selected his current deputy, Engr. Aminu Usman Gumel, to remain on the ticket for the upcoming 2027 gubernatorial race. This declaration terminates months of uncertainty regarding the potential for a change in the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership pairing for the state.
During a meeting with representatives from the Gumel Emirate at the Government House in Dutse, Namadi stated that the decision was rooted in the deputy’s professional conduct, loyalty, and vital role in the current administration. He emphasized that Gumel has shown a steady dedication to the state’s growth objectives, justifying his retention.
The announcement effectively ends rumors suggesting a rift or a plan to swap the deputy. These speculations had previously gained traction due to perceived political ties between Gumel and former Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, a relationship that predated a recent reconciliation.
In response, Gumel thanked the governor and the APC leadership for their trust. He acknowledged that many others were capable of the role but expressed humility regarding the governor’s choice. He committed to maintaining his loyalty and continuing his efforts toward the administration’s development goals.
