Prof. Segun Aina, the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), recently addressed over 5,000 outstanding complaints in less than a week. To achieve this, Aina moved his workstation directly into the Board’s SERVICOM Unit to personally oversee the resolution process for students and stakeholders.
Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the Acting Director of Public Affairs, confirmed this initiative on Sunday, noting that it aligns with the Registrar’s core administrative pillar: Service at Heart. Aina has mandated that desk officers prioritize legitimate grievances immediately rather than allowing backlogs to form.
The resolved matters spanned a wide range of administrative hurdles. These included issues with biometric verification during registration and the UTME, profile code generation for candidates who lost original phone access, and technical errors involving the Central Admissions Processing System. Additionally, the team corrected data such as names, birth dates, and state of origin, while also settling disputes regarding exam venue logistics, payment errors, and document uploads.
By operating from the service center, Aina gained firsthand insight into the bottlenecks hindering student support. This hands-on strategy is intended to foster a more accessible and efficient system for all Nigerians interacting with the examination body.
