Ireland secured a historic T20 series victory over world champions India, clinching a dramatic one-run win at Stormont. Following an initial 34-run upset on Friday, Ireland repeated the feat as debutants Jai Moondra and Matthew Hollard each claimed three wickets.
India required eight runs from the final two deliveries to keep the series alive. However, Harshit Rana was caught by Tim Tector off the bowling of Harry Tector, sealing the result. This achievement marks the first time Ireland has defeated India in a T20 series since 2023.
Harry Tector celebrated his 100th international appearance by top-scoring with 53, helping Ireland reach a total of 154-8. Moondra, who moved to Dublin from India in 2021, dismantled the top order by removing Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, and captain Shreyas Iyer early in the chase.
Despite a valiant effort from Tilak Varma, who scored 55, India fell short at 153-9. The victory remains particularly significant as Ireland was missing established stars such as Mark Adair, Curtis Campher, and Josh Little, relying instead on newcomers to challenge the world’s top-ranked side.
