Ipswich Town has finalized the acquisition of Moroccan international defender Issa Diop from Fulham for a fee that remains undisclosed. The 29-year-old center-back, who contributed to Morocco’s quarter-final run at the World Cup, has committed to a contract running through the summer of 2030.
Diop arrives with extensive Premier League knowledge, having logged 173 appearances in the top division during his time with West Ham and Fulham. Expressing his enthusiasm for the transfer, the player stated he views Ipswich as the ideal environment for the next chapter of his career. He noted that he was impressed by initial discussions with the club and is eager to integrate with his new colleagues and the fan base.
Originally arriving in England from Toulouse to join West Ham in 2018, Diop eventually transferred to Fulham in a 2022 deal worth £15m. Although he participated in 96 matches for the Cottagers, his opportunities became limited last season, resulting in only eight Premier League starts. This move marks Ipswich’s sixth addition this summer, joining other recent arrivals such as Abdul Fatawu, Emersonn, Cedric Kipre, Chuba Akpom, and Kayne van Oevelen as the club strengthens its roster following their promotion.
