A group of suspected Boko Haram or ISWAP fighters kidnapped the spouse of a clergyman and her three children near Damasak in Borno State. The family was traveling from Maiduguri to Damasak on Saturday when armed individuals blocked their vehicle near Kareto village.
Reports indicate that the assailants specifically ordered the woman and her children to exit the commercial vehicle, allowing the driver and other commuters to proceed unharmed. The woman is identified as the wife of Moses G. Guguma, a pastor at the Church of Christ in Nations. She had recently finished medical treatment in Maiduguri prior to the abduction.
Local residents expressed concern that the victims were targeted due to their faith and have requested public support. As of now, the location of the family remains a mystery, and authorities have not provided an official update on the status of the kidnapping.
