Merseyside Police have confirmed that four men lost their lives after their vehicle struck a lamp-post early this morning. The incident occurred on Liverpool Road in Huyton shortly before 2:00 BST.
The victims included two 23-year-olds, a 24-year-old, and a 26-year-old; all were pronounced dead at the scene. A fifth occupant of the vehicle, a 27-year-old man, was transported to a medical facility where he remains in stable condition.
Authorities identified the vehicle as a black Seat Cupra that had been traveling from Liverpool toward Knowsley before leaving the roadway. As part of an ongoing investigation, eleven local roads—including segments of Liverpool Road and East Prescot Road—have been shut down. These closures are expected to persist throughout the weekend.
Superintendent Paul Holden expressed that the department’s primary focus is providing answers to the victims’ families regarding the cause of the accident. He urged witnesses or anyone who was driving in the vicinity prior to the crash to contact the police immediately.
