INEC Official Commends Orderly Process and High Voter Participation in Kano Bye-Election

INEC’s Abdu Zango reported a smooth and peaceful bye-election in Kano, highlighting high turnout and reliable technology as a positive sign for the 2027 general elections.

Ambassador Abdu Zango, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for INEC, stated that the Dawakin Kudu–Warawa Federal Constituency bye-election provides a positive outlook for the 2027 general elections. He cited the significant voter turnout and the absence of conflict as key indicators of success.

Speaking from a polling site in Warawa, Zango lauded the police and supporting security forces for their effective organization. He confirmed that no violent incidents occurred during the proceedings. Three political organizations participated in the race: the All Progressives Congress, the Labour Party, and the Allied Peoples Movement.

Technical performance remained stable throughout the day. Zango noted that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System units functioned effectively following a scheduled update performed three days prior. He committed to further refining this technology for future voting cycles.

Kano Police Commissioner Ibrahim Adamu Bakori echoed these sentiments regarding the peaceful environment. He highlighted the cooperation between security agencies and the public, noting that voters have increasingly moved away from electoral violence. Bakori affirmed that law enforcement intends to maintain this high standard of security for upcoming ballots.
