Chief Adegboyega Adegoke, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) gubernatorial hopeful for the 2027 Oyo State election, has publicly condemned the forced removal of his campaign billboard in Ibadan. A statement released by his media team on Saturday detailed the incident.
According to Adegoke, officials from the Oyo State government unlawfully dismantled his sign located at the Idi-Ape junction. He stated that the display, which featured his likeness alongside ADC presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, was taken down and substituted with a promotional banner highlighting Governor Seyi Makinde and the APM candidates, including gubernatorial contender Mr. Bimbo Adekambi.
Adegoke argued that the state leadership is anxious regarding Atiku’s rising support base. He asserted that such actions are unacceptable and will fail to dampen his own influence or that of Atiku across Oyo State. Questioning the political standards of the current administration, Adegoke warned that such behavior undermines democratic norms. He challenged Governor Makinde to stop acting fearfully and prepare for the ballot box, insisting that his team remains confident in their upcoming 2027 electoral success.
