Esther Walson-Jack, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, confirmed on Monday that the office space occupied by the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) was originally designated for the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF). This workspace is situated within the Federal Secretariat in Abuja.
Walson-Jack provided this information during testimony before a House of Representatives ad hoc committee. The committee is examining the PFIPC scandal and the N1.3 billion budget inclusion for the group in the 2026 Appropriation Act.
The controversy emerged when Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila stated on June 11, 2026, that he did not recognize Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claimed to be the Director-General of the PFIPC. Gbajabiamila asserted that the organization does not exist and noted he had contacted security agencies in October 2025 regarding fraudulent appointment letters. Consequently, Adeyemi faced charges of forgery, impersonation, and fraud at the Federal High Court.
In response, Adeyemi denied the claims, stating he intends to prove his innocence in court. President Bola Tinubu has called for an impartial investigation into the matter. Following his arrest and questioning regarding the scandal, Adeyemi was subsequently released.
