Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, a former presidential aide, has formally requested the federal government establish a judicial commission of enquiry to investigate the scandal involving Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, and Adeniyi Adeyemi, who allegedly headed a non-existent government entity known as the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council.
Expressing his views on social media, Baba-Ahmed argued that the current administration lacks the impartiality required to investigate its own officials. He stressed that an independent inquiry is essential to examine the potential institutional failures and the conduct of government personnel linked to the case. According to Baba-Ahmed, the situation reflects deeper issues regarding governance and political influence.
The controversy emerged when Gbajabiamila disavowed any connection to Adeyemi after the latter claimed a leadership position within a fabricated government body. The Chief of Staff stated that he notified security services in October 2025 regarding forged documents, leading to criminal charges against Adeyemi for forgery and impersonation. Adeyemi has maintained his innocence, asserting his intention to resolve the matter through the legal system. In response to the growing public concern, President Tinubu has initiated an official probe into the allegations.
