Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has officially reorganized the state’s security apparatus. The changes include naming retired Brigadier General Nash Yakubu to lead Operation Rainbow, the state’s security agency.
Arc. Samuel Jatau, the Secretary to the Government, confirmed the appointments on Tuesday. Brig.-Gen. Yakubu arrives with 35 years of military service, including roles in the North-East, international peacekeeping missions in Sudan and Sierra Leone, and security efforts regarding MASSOB and IPOB.
As part of this shift, Brig.-Gen. Gakji Shipi Goshwe (Rtd) has been moved to coordinate the Safe School Programme, stepping away from his previous roles as the acting head of Operation Rainbow and Special Adviser on Security.
Furthermore, Maj.-Gen. Bala A. Isandu (Rtd) has been tapped as the new Special Adviser on Security. His professional background includes a tenure as Senior Special Assistant on Intelligence to the Minister of Defence and leadership roles within the Defence Intelligence Agency.
These personnel changes are effective immediately. The administration intends to bolster safety, protect citizens, and enhance security protocols specifically within the state’s schools. Governor Mutfwang has expressed his trust in the new team, tasking them with applying their extensive military backgrounds to foster stability throughout Plateau State.
