Gunmen Invade Abuja Estate, Residents Feared Abducted
A group of heavily armed kidnappers stormed Grow Homes Estate in Chikakore, a community within Kubwa—Abuja’s largest suburb—leaving residents in fear as they were held hostage for over an hour.
Eyewitnesses reported that the attack took place in the early hours of Monday, between midnight and 1:30 a.m.
One resident recounted seeing a man and a woman abducted by the assailants. By morning, the woman was found within the estate—freed by the kidnappers for reasons that remain unknown.
As of the time this report was filed, the total number of victims taken remains uncertain.
“The incident happened around 12am. Those guys were well-armed, and they overpowered the local vigilance team.
“The police came at about 1am, and there was a fierce exchange of gunfire for about 30 minutes.
“We are begging the government to fix this road for easy access for security patrol vehicles. We also beg the police and, of course, the FCT Administration to help site a station here for rapid response,” a resident said.
