Governor Uba Sani has successfully addressed a long-standing infrastructure failure in Giwa local government by rebuilding the Store Bridge located on the Marabar Yakawada–Kaya Road. This reconstruction effort has sparked an economic resurgence in the region. Local residents confirmed to journalists that the project has revitalized agricultural, commercial, and social ties between communities that previously faced total isolation during rainy seasons.
Community members expressed gratitude for the initiative, highlighting the bridge as a vital link to essential services such as healthcare, markets, and farmland. Malam Shehu Muharazu, a local driver, explained that the bridge’s previous state forced commuters to take lengthy detours through Katsina State, which drastically increased travel expenses and personal risk. Local farmers also reported that the seasonal impassability of the road had severely hindered their ability to move crops to market.
The impact extends to public health as well. Resident Mallam Muhammad Aminu noted that the bridge closure historically delayed medical referrals, leading to complications in maternal and infant care. The restored crossing now allows for prompt emergency transport from surrounding villages.
Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, led a media tour of the site to showcase the government’s progress. He stated that the project is central to the administration’s mission of fostering inclusive rural development. By prioritizing such critical infrastructure, the state government aims to stimulate economic growth and ensure that rural residents have reliable access to the vital services they need to thrive.
