Liberia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Ethel Davis, has expressed that her nation remains deeply appreciative of Nigeria’s steadfast support during Liberia’s most difficult historical periods. Meeting with Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Amb. Sola Enikanolaiye, in Abuja, Davis noted that any Liberian citizen would identify Nigeria as their closest ally.
She emphasized that this bond has fostered a desire to further strengthen bilateral ties rooted in a spirit of brotherhood. The discussions primarily centered on expanding cooperation between the two nations.
Amb. Enikanolaiye acknowledged the long-standing diplomatic history between the countries, noting that Nigeria’s commitment to restoring stability in Liberia illustrates the depth of their connection. He highlighted the transition from formal government-to-government interactions to strong personal relationships between their citizens. Looking ahead, both parties are preparing for an investment summit in Lagos this August, which aims to boost trade, commercial growth, and economic collaboration between the private sectors of Nigeria and Liberia.
