Governor Mbah Assures Public on Safety Following Enugu Air Runway Event

Governor Peter Mbah has pledged full cooperation with authorities investigating a recent runway incursion involving Enugu Air, affirming that passenger safety remains the airline’s primary concern.

Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has addressed a recent runway incident involving the state’s carrier, Enugu Air, at Benin Airport. Expressing sympathy for the 63 passengers and five crew members aboard Flight 4264 on July 23, 2026, he noted the relief that no casualties occurred. The Embraer E170 was operating a flight from Lagos when the runway incursion took place.

Governor Mbah praised the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau for launching a prompt inquiry into the situation. He pledged that the state government and the airline would cooperate fully with regulatory bodies to uncover the cause. Emphasizing that the airline prioritizes safety over commercial gains, the Governor reiterated that their internal standards exceed general industry benchmarks.

He further thanked the public for their continued solidarity and positive feedback since the airline began operations a year ago. The state government remains committed to maintaining the high levels of professionalism and safety that have defined the carrier’s reputation thus far.
